Welcome to our website.
The Barming Active Retirement Association (BarmARA) was formed in 2003 for people over the age of 50 who are either retired or semi-retired living in the Barming and ME16 post code areas. The membership has been set at a maximum of 135 to ensure that we do not exceed the Health and Safety limits required at Fant Hall, Fant Lane, which is our regular meeting point.
The club has regular monthly meetings where a speaker or entertainer enlivens the afternoon. In addition the club organises Coffee mornings, Craft and Art groups, Coach outings and Theatre trips, Holidays, Line dances, Quizes, Rambles (with pub lunches) 10 pin Bowling and Petanque. The club is affiliated to the Kent Active Retirement Association (KentARA) and therefore our members can take part in the many additional activities that KentARA organise.
The club and KentARA are non-profit making organisations whose Objectives are to arrange and promote regular monthly meetings and other activities which will contibute to the mental and physical well being of the members with the aim to ensure a full and active retirement. Our present annual full membership fee is £5 per person and meeting attendances costs members £1.00, which includes tea/coffee and biscuits. As well as a Full membership of 136 we also have a list of 125 Associate members who are welcome to join in any or all of our activities. The Associate Members annual membership fee is £3.00p. However, at present the club is unable to accommodate Associate members at its monthly meeting because of the H&S requirements at Fant Hall.
